VCED Seeks Candidates for Executive Director Post

Valley County Economic Development (VCED), a county-wide economic development organization located in Ord, NE, is looking for its next Executive Director.

Big picture: Under the direction of the VCED Board, the Director coordinates all activities, programs and operations of the organization. The Director works closely with partners in the public and private sectors to best position Ord and Valley County for private capital investment and economic growth. The Director also provides guidance and oversight for the Ord Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and staff.

What you’ll do: Key activities include administration of the voter-approved Economic Development Program and associated sales tax fund, administration of a business loan pool totaling $1.9 M, continued implementation of workforce housing programs, and leading community revitalization efforts.

Who you’ll work with: The next Director will inherit a robust community of doers and entrepreneurs, a plethora of projects and programs with significant momentum, and an agglomerate of dedicated elected officials, volunteer board members, and colleagues eager to continue making things happen in Valley County. Funding for VCED is secured from the County of Valley, City of Ord, Ord Area Chamber of Commerce, and Greater Loup Valley Activities, Inc. VCED also receives private sponsorships from local businesses and individuals. The Director provides guidance and assistance to VCED’s municipal and county partners relating to community development.

Experience and Qualifications: Experience preferred in business development, management and/or leadership roles, public relations, strategic planning, marketing and promotions, budget preparation and grant writing. Proficient computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office programs and QuickBooks, excellent listening and communication skills, ability to maintain confidentiality, work with and manage staff and volunteers, read and write proficiently, make public presentations, establish and maintain effective working relations with community leaders, board members, volunteers and general members of the public. Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced education preferred.

Compensation: This is a full-time salaried position. The VCED Board is aggressive and will be competitive for the right candidate.
