Professional Eyecare has been offering superior care for their patients ever since 1975 when Dr. Roger McCartney opened the practice in the basement of what is now Great Western Bank in downtown Ord.
After outgrowing their original location, the business relocated to the building that is now occupied by Kruml Law Office on the north side of the downtown square. In 2000, Dr. Brandon Blair joined the practice and business continued to grow, sparking a renovation and relocation of the building next door where the business currently resides today at 1511 M Street.
In December 2017, Dr. McCartney retired after 42 years in business and sold the practice to Dr. Blair who continues to run Professional Eyecare as a family business. You’ll often see his wife, Holly, and their children, Bronson, Brody and Bond, helping out around the office.
The area’s primary optometry business has grown and evolved in many ways throughout the years including their team. When the practice opened in 1975, Professional Eyecare had one employee. It grew to two doctors and 10 full-time staff until Dr. McCartney’s retirement in 2017. They now have one doctor, six full-time employees and two part-time employees and they certainly don’t plan on becoming stagnant. In the future, Dr. Blair plans to bring in another optometrist and two additional staff members.
Part of the reason for their business’ continued growth is their willingness to accommodate their patients’ needs and schedules. Dr. Blair shares, “Professional Eyecare has modified their office hours to be as convenient as possible for patients of all ages. We are open Monday through Saturday and have extended hours on Wednesday evenings for people that cannot miss work to get their eyes examined.”
Dr. Blair also offers 24-hour emergency eyecare for anyone that finds themselves in an emergency situation whether your hobby or work has resulted in metal, wood, chemicals, insects or other foreign material in your eye that may be irritating.
“At Professional Eyecare, we strive to offer our patients the most advanced services and technologically advanced products available.”
Not only do they have the latest instrumentation for the evaluation of prescriptions for glasses and contact lenses, they have the most advanced technology for evaluating the health of the eye allowing them to not only remedy current vision problems but contribute to overall eye healthcare for their patients. That technology and commitment to their customers, coupled with the largest frame selection in the area, gives Professional Eyecare the feel of a large city practice in a small-town setting.
“When people buy locally, it allows us to invest money in newer technologies that, in the end, allow us to care for our patients better. Buying locally also allows us to support many of the school and civic organizations in Ord and the surrounding communities.”
