June 30, 1996 was the beginning of progressive growth for a local business in our community when the Ord Grocery Kart opened after purchasing the former Cetak’s grocery store. They started with 11 employees and have since grown their workforce to 36 employees today. In addition to the growth of their team, there has been visible progress to their facility. The most extensive remodel project took place in 2000 when they expanded their produce, dairy and frozen food sections and brought in more specialty food items.
During the past 19 years, Grocery Kart has also expanded their product offerings to include Chester’s Chicken, movie rentals and sales, liquor and most recently Troyer’s Amish Foods. Grocery Kart has also diversified their product offerings with their own line of homemade hot dogs and other varieties of smoked meats. They continuously strive to offer their customers new products such as All-But-Gluten, a line of bakery items that are gluten free. Their warehouse supplies over 800 stores giving Ord Grocery Kart the buying power to provide their customers with competitive ad items as well as everyday low prices.
The Ord Grocery Kart has been a strong supporter of the community through donations and time. They give back to local and needy organizations with the proceeds from the Hamburger and Hot Dog Feed during their annual Truckload Sale which is coming up on June 19, 2015!
Ord Grocery Kart strives to provide fresh products, new items and keep up with food trends. They carry over 30,000 items and order many special requests. Their produce department can create vegetable and fruit trays as well as fruit baskets and their deli can prepare meat and cheese trays for any occasion.
