The Valley County Health System is a critical access hospital and a member of the Nebraska Hospital Association. VCHS provides a broad scope of services including acute care, ambulance services, cardiac rehabilitation, diabetes education, emergency care, endoscopy, Heritage Program for Seniors, Home Health, Hospice, Imaging, Laboratory, Medical Clinics, Nutritional consultations, Outpatient Surgery, Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, Sleep Clinic, Specialty Clinic, Telemedicine, and Wound Care. On May 13, 2008 the community approved a $21.3 million dollar bond issue to build a new 67,000 square foot, state of the art replacement hospital in Ord. This will ensure that future generations of the six county region VCHS serves will be assured of the convenience, accessibility and quality of healthcare our patients need and deserve. The new facility opened October 4th, 2010.

Home Health & Hospice
VALLEY COUNTY HEALTH SYSTEM HOME HEALTH & HOSPICE (website)
Valley County Health System Home Health provides the following services: registered nursing, social work, IV therapy, home health aide, diabetic education, physical therapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy. These services are covered by Medicare, Medicaid and most insurance companies. Private duty services are available for patients not meeting Medicare and Medicaid guidelines. Services are available in Valley, Garfield, Sherman, Howard, Greeley, Loup, Custer and Wheeler Counties.
Hospice care is also available for terminally ill patients and their families. Criteria for hospice service are: patient and family are aware of the patient’s diagnosis and prognosis, the patient has a limited life expectancy of six months or less if the disease runs it’s normal course, and the care has become palliative rather than curative. ARBOR CARE CENTER – ORD
Arbor Care Center in Ord, accredited by the state of Nebraska, has a total capacity of 60 beds. Services offered include 24-hour licensed nursing care, restorative nursing care, social services, physical therapy, cardiopulmonary services, and an activities program. Emergency Care & Ambulance Services
VALLEY COUNTY HEALTH SYSTEM (website)
The Valley County Ambulance is an Advanced Life Support ambulance owned by Valley County and managed by Valley County Health System.
The ambulance is under the medical direction of Dr. Hilary Miller.
The Ambulance Service is available for BLS/ALS transports 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Valley County Ambulance has more than 150 transports each year. Most transports are to Grand Island, Kearney, Lincoln and Omaha. For more information, contact VCHS at (308) 728-4200.
