Knight Trucking – September 2018 Chamber Spotlight

There “ain’t no feelin’ like cowmobeelin.” You’ll find this phrase on the back of all Knight Trucking trailers as they travel throughout Nebraska and beyond hauling livestock.

The values of this soon-to-be third generation business are rooted in their love for agriculture and their dedication to serving their customers. Their goal is simple yet incredibly meaningful to cattle producers – offer outstanding livestock transportation service.

“Our drivers and our owner/operators know the cattle business and are determined to make sure you and your livestock are given the personalized service you expect and deserve.”

In 1970, Charles (Bud) and Gloria Knight began Knight Trucking. Their son, Mark, officially began trucking with his parents in 1979. Unofficially, at a very young age, Mark would hit the road with the drivers whenever he could – on weekends, nights, summers and holidays. The drivers had a lot of fun with Mark and he was affectionally nicknamed “BS” for Boss’s Son.

In 1991, Mark and Brenda were married and bought into the family business. In 1999, Bud passed away and Mark and Brenda continued with Gloria until 2006, when Gloria sold the remainder of the business to the couple. Now, with the family business going on almost 50 years, Mark and Brenda’s son, Tanner, plans to join the family business after college next year.

While reflecting on their upcoming anniversary of 50 years in the family business, Mark and Brenda share, “We are reminded of how many drivers and leasers have turned into family, and how many customers have turned into family friends over the years. We have been truly blessed to work with and for such wonderful people. Our customers and our crew are the reason we do this each day.”

Whether you’re hauling to the salebarn, bringing cattle home or hauling them to pasture, Knight’s 40-foot stock trailer offers additional options if you don’t have a whole pot of cattle to haul.

They will get your cattle loaded and get them on the road, creating more time for you to do other things on your operation. They know time is money and life is busy and they want to help make things easier for you.

When asked about the importance of buying locally and supporting the community, Mark and Brenda responded, “Although we haul livestock to many places, our heart is in Nebraska. We live here because we love this community and the people in it. We believe in doing our part in the community by donating to causes, volunteering where needed, and serving on local boards to better our community. Central Nebraska offers a simple lifestyle with the pleasures of caring lifelong friends, loving family, green pastures and the gratification you get when you work hard, the returns are endless. We are grateful for the friends, family and customers that we have in our lives. They are priceless possessions to us.”
