Starting and owning a business is not an easy task. There can be many bumps in the road that could make you question your decision to become an entrepreneur. Sometimes, it takes great strength and perseverance to keep the doors open. Hey Honey Boutique in Ord is no stranger to those strength building bumps.

Ord native Jessalyn Crawford decided in fall of 2020 to pursue her entrepreneurial dream and open Hey Honey Boutique. This new venture wasn’t just to fulfil her passion though. Jessalyn saw a need for a boutique that served younger women in the community. Despite those business owning bumps, Jessalyn has continued to fulfill this need in the community, and have a little fun doing it. Hey Honey Boutique not only offers unique services, they also offer unique shopping experiences. From Galentine’s Day, Pink Friday, hair tinsel parties, private girl’s nights and so much more, there’s always a reason to stop by Hey Honey for some fun. Hey Honey not only wants to make your shopping experience fun, they also want to make it convenient for you. “We love our community and try out best to meet people where they are”, stated Crawford. For example, Hey Honey knows high school students have busy schedules. That is why every Monday night during the school year is “High School Night”. Hey Honey keeps the shop open until 7:00pm on these nights to make it easy for kids to swing by after practice or other school commitments for some quick shopping, with a discount included!

For the past two and a half years, Hey Honey has featured a wide variety of women’s apparel, jewelry, accessories, shoes and gift items. One of Hey Honey’s most unique offerings though, is permanent jewelry. This new fashion trend is simple, jewelry that stays on forever. Who wouldn’t love a bracelet that you never lose?! Hey Honey has a wide selection of permanent jewelry.
When you listen to Jessalyn talk about Hey Honey, you’ll quickly realize this venture is not just about her love for Hey Honey….it’s also about her love for Ord. Thanks to the continued growth of Hey Honey since it’s inception in 2020, Jessalyn was able to make a big investment in her business’s future. In early 2023, Jessalyn purchased a historic downtown building in need of some love. This two-story building, located on the south side of the square, has a lot of history but it’s newest legacy will be becoming the home of Hey Honey Boutique, plus a few other business ventures Jessalyn has in mind. You may have already noticed the changes happening to the building, including the work on the upstairs windows that have been boarded up for over 50 years.

Owning a small business has taught Jessalyn the importance of shopping local. “I have learned that small businesses are truly the heartbeat of our community. When you shop local you support the community, employ local families, help support your local school and support the dreams of the business owner. I am forever thankful for this opportunity to own a small business in Ord.”

Shopping local isn’t only about supporting community though. It’s also the perfect way to thank small business owners for their strength and perseverance!
