Holiday Events and Promotions Support Local Businesses and Organizations

This holiday season you will have no problem finding activities for you and the whole family. Shop locally, support our area businesses, and have fun along the way. From Santa to Soup, Books to Baking, Music to Meals, Crafts to Charcuterie, Lights to Dark and Painting to Parades…you will find that we may be small, but we have it all this holiday season.

We are excited for the parade of lights, “Shine Bright in Valley County” as local businesses and families decorate to the nines and share a bit of holiday cheer going into the season. Maps for the Parade of Lights will be available at various locations during WinterFest and at outside the Valley Rods Clubhouse during the Parade of Lights event.  Be sure to follow the WinterFest Facebook event for updates on where to pick up your map.

We have two upcoming Soup Suppers, the first will be Wednesday, November 30th, hosted by the St. John’s youth group at their church hall from 5:00-7:00pm, and the second being held on Wednesday, December 7, hosted by Bethany Lutheran at the Ord Fire Hall from 5:30-7:30 pm.  A free will donation will benefit both youth groups.

For those young and young at heart, Santa Clause will be making several appearances on Small Business Saturday, starting with the Breakfast with Santa at Jubilee from 8am-10am on Saturday, November 26, then over to Ace Hardware from 10am-12pm. He may even be spotted during other downtown events that day as well.

The calendar of events during the holidays season and Small Business Saturday are sure to keep you busy.  Enjoy time taking it all in! Do not miss out on the Snowball Drop at 10am Saturday, November 26, on the Courthouse Square.  Savings will fall from the “sky” and include special discounts, ChamberBucks and prizes.

There will also be three $100 in ChamberBucks drawings throughout the season. December 5, 12 and 19 during Party Line Part 2 on KNLV.  When you shop at Chamber members, you can enter your receipts into the drawing.  Receipts can be submitted in-person at the Ord Area Chamber of Commerce office,1514 K Street, or text or email a photo of your receipt to ordareachamber@gmail.com. There is no fee for customers or Chamber businesses to participate in the buy local campaign.

Be sure to take advantage of all the area promotions from local businesses each week until Christmas.  Unique gift ideas and a holiday shopping guide are listed on the website at www.ordnebraska.com/2022-local-holiday-shopping-guide.
