(Ord, NE) – Ord City Council has approved funding for the buy-out of Brown’s His/Her Side on May 19, 2011 that will open the door for a new business open in downtown Ord.
Valley Fire Pottery, the new tenant, will be an ecommerce and brick & mortar-based center for painted ceramics, pottery classes, art gallery, coffee shop and studio. The owners of Valley Fire Pottery, Guy and Jennifer Lewis of Ord, expect to move into the building in July. The expected employment impact will create three full-time positions and one part-time equivalent.
Valley Fire Pottery will also have a gallery for local artists to sell their work. Space will be available for painted ceramics and a variety of pottery classes.
“We would like to thank the Ord City Council, the sales tax loan committee, Eugene Rahn of REAP and Caleb Pollard of Valley County Economic Development for making this project possible” said Mr. Lewis. “We are very excited to get moving and open our business.”
“To see Guy and Jennifer Lewis’ dogged tenacity to ensure this new development grew in downtown Ord is another example of the attractiveness of our community” said Caleb Pollard, Valley County Economic Development Director. “To be able to work with people who have a passion for art, our community and growing such a cool business here in Ord is truly an honor. I am excited to see this project move forward as it will be a welcome addition to downtown Ord.”
