Anderson Pharmacy – September 2017 Chamber Spotlight

The story of Anderson Pharmacy began in 1971 with the original owners, Bob and Bonnie Anderson.  After being approached by Bonnie with ideas for transitioning the business, current owners, Mike & Sue Blaha, thought it was a good opportunity to return to Ord and raise their family.  They purchased the business in May of 1998 after Bob passed away.

The following year they expanded their offerings by bringing photo processing to Ord and continued to grow their business by offering unique gift items.   They invested in their pharmacy department in 2008 by adding an automated dispensing machine and in August of 2012 they added their online presence through ShopOrd.com.

Michelle Weber joined their team in June of 2011 as a pharmacist followed by Kasi Bodyfield as a pharmacist in June of 2014.

They continuously develop their services in the pharmacy to fulfill their customers’ healthcare needs, from immunizations to weekly and monthly pill boxes to helping patients select Medicare Part D plans.  They also regularly expand their gift department to support their customers’ desires to have convenient options to purchase décor and gifts locally.

“We have grown both our front end selection and our pharmacy department in our almost 20 years of ownership.  We continue to grow to offer services our customers request.  We also try to stay up to date with technology and services we can offer to our patients.”

When asked about the importance of buying local and supporting the local community, they shared, “Often, your price for a prescription medication is the same or cheaper through Anderson Pharmacy compared to a large retail store.  By buying locally, you are investing your money into your community which is given back through sales tax, donations and wages.”
