The Ord Area Chamber of Commerce, 1514 K Street, is housed in U.S. Chamber of Commerce Member 2007conjunction with the Valley County Economic Development office. It is an area wide Chamber with members not only from Ord but several of the surrounding communities.The Ord Area Chamber is a member of the U.S. Chamber and the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The Chamber is an information and referral center for the community and for businesses and inviduals outside the community. Information about local business activity, tourism, area events and activities, lodging and relocation is available by calling (308) 728-7875.

As it works to improve the economy and quality of life, the Chamber keeps these broad objectives in mind:

As a member of the Ord Area Chamber of Commerce, businessses and individuals have access to the following services provided by the Ord Area Chamber of Commerce.

  • Listing in the online business directory - available to newcomers, new businesses, members, area purchasing agents, visitors and Chamber Buck purchasers.
  • Invitations to Chamber sponsored seminars and training opportunities.
  • Subscription to the Area Chamber and Economic Development Report, the monthly newsletter.
  • Participation rights on Chamber committees.
  • Inclusion in the Chamber e-mail list and hotline for timely information about chamber programs and other issues than have an affect on your business.
  • Legislative Conference calls with the State Chamber - 6 per year.
  • Information and referral services on any topic of concern for your business.
  • Referral of your business when responding to requests about businesses.
  • Membership in the U.S. Chamber of Commerce via the Federation Partnership Program.
  • Right to advertise in special productions of the Chamber (city maps, travel guide, etc.)
  • Voting privilege for chamber issues and for annual awards.
  • Inclusion of business information or coupons in Ord's newcomer packets.
  • Advocacy of your business interest to all levels of government.

All new businesses to the community receive a complimentary six-month or until the end of the year membership to the Ord Area Chamber effective from the date of their grand opening. Ord Main Street

The Ord Area Chamber of Commerce has played an active role in reviatlizing Main Street Ord. A group of local business owners worked with the City Council to develop a plan for renovation of downtown Ord. The project includes streets, sidewalks, curbs, gutters and historic lighting. Construction began in April 2007. The project will be paid for by assessments to property owners, two grants and a 1/2 cent city sales tax.
